New India Assurance Overseas Mediclaim Policy

Overseas Mediclaim Policy

has been specifically designed for those who travel overseas quite often and need their luggage and passport insured against any unforeseen circumstances.

How the policy functions?

The proposer should take up the plan only if s/he going (goes often) overseas for business, education, leisure trip, job or any other reason. One can avail any of the two plans as per his/her requirements- E & S (employment and studies) and B & H (business and holiday trips). These two categories of this overseas policy have been designed keeping in mind the requirements of the proposer. The policy is valid only if the insured initiates his journey within 14 days from the date of insurance’s start as per the rules and regulations of the policy. If by any means the journey gets delayed, the policy will get cancelled. There are various plans and plans under this policy. Few of the policies are applied worldwide except in USA/Canada and few of them are applied worldwide including in USA/ Canada. Then there are policies that are applied in Asian countries excluding in Japan.

Benefits of availing the policy-

There are several benefits of this policy. Here, you can get medical expenses covered as per the policy terms and according to the amount of the sum assured. Added to that, you can get a maximum of 25,000 for personal accident benefit, check in baggage claims, delay in checked in baggage, loss of passport assistance, personal liability and so on.

  • CFT cover is provided to the corporate client executives and partners of registered firms annually if a single trip doesn’t exceed a span of 60 days.

  • Up to 180 days of coverage is provided under business and holiday plan.
  • Extension can be provided on the original policy of 180 more days depending on the health conditions of the proposer.
  • Anyone of age limit 6 months to 70 years can be covered under this policy.
  • Policy can only be taken before departing from departing from the country
  • 30 days of continuous in-hospital expenses for emotional, mental and nervous disorders.
  • Medical emergency reunion expenses up to $ 5000 when agreed by all parties that the person should be evacuated immediately to India

Major exclusions in this policy-

  • Pre-existing illnesses and diseases (both known and unknown)
  • First USD 100 of any claim has to be undertaken by the traveler
  • Travelling without medical consent of practitioner or for medical treatment with routine check-up
  • One cannot claim more than the specified amount
  • The insurers are liable to pay the expenses incurred on the maximum dollar amount that has been stated in the policy, 52 weeks after the onset of sickness or injury covered in the policy or 12 weeks after the insurance expires (whichever first occurs).

Span of the policy-

The insurance policy can be effective on or later for the time and date for when the first premium has been paid. It can also be on the time and date when the insured leaves the country for study or posting. However, the country of study or work should not be more than 48 hours distant from India. The insured can terminate the insurance policy anytime at the earliest of 12 month from policy commencing date.
